Grammys 2014: Red Carpet

Seeing what all the celebrities wear on the red carpet is probably my favourite part of watching an awards show, so despite having an exam in 2 days, I had to make time to watch this year's Grammys. Here's my best and worst dressed list:

5 Best:

Taylor Swift's red carpet looks are known to be very elegant and this year was no different. This sparkling Gucci dress was simple, yet classy and elegant as always.

Beyonce's Michael Costello dress was my absolute favourite look of the night. The dress was beautiful, flattering, and sexy yet elegant. I just loved it. And her performance with Jay-Z was hot! Who was your favourite?

Not only is Katy Perry one of my favourite singers, but a fashion icon as well. I am always looking forward to seeing her on the red carpet because she always looks so fun. This Valentino dress makes her look like a musical princess and I think she looks beautiful!

I was loving the gold dresses on this red carpet. Ciara's Emilio Pucci gown is one that deserves a mention because she was glowing in it. Both John Legend and his girlfriend Christine Teigen looked dashing on the red carpet. Christine is wearing a beautiful Johanna Johnson dress and it might be my favourite look.

I still haven't decided 100% whether or not I love this House of Milani dress on Paris Hilton. From the front view alone, I absolutely adore it! The turtleneck, long sleeves, and embellishments all work together in making a very classy and beautiful gown.

The back is where I get a little stumped. The entire upper portion of this back is still beautiful, however I'm just not sure how I feel about the lower half. This dress definitely shows off her bod, maybe a little too much... What do you guys think of this gown? Yay or nay?

Worst 3:

Here's another revealing dress, but unlike Paris Hilton's, it is just trashy all around. Kaya Jones really turned heads with this dominatrix style dress.

By no means was this Armani Privé dress horrible, but I personally just didn't think it looked good on Alicia Keys. There definitely could've been a more flattering dress for her body. This one made her boobs look weird and exaggerated her pear shaped figure (not in a good way). This seems to be getting on a lot of best dressed lists though, so what do you think?

My ultimate worst dressed has to go to Nadeea Volianova. Her outfit looked like a prom outfit gone wrong. Her hair was a mess, the dress looked tacky, and though the shoes itself were amazing, it was just too much with everything else going on.

So who were your best and worst dressed at this year's Grammys? Do you agree or disagree with any of mine?

GRWM + OOTD: School

I've been thinking of making a youtube channel for a while but never really got the courage to do it, it's scary putting yourself out there on the internet! But I had some extra time on my hands yesterday so I decided to finally do it. I'd love to get your comments on what you think.

To keep it simple, I filmed an easy get ready with me and outfit of the day video. Some days I'll do more or less than this, everyday is different but this is how I got ready yesterday. Enjoy!

I only had one evening class last night which gave me a lot of time to get ready, so I went a little heavier with my face makeup but still kept it really simple on the eyes with just eyeliner and mascara.

As for my outfit, i decided to wear something very casual and comfortable and went with my absolute favorite Erin sweater by Babaton (Aritzia). I own this sweater in multiple colours and wear it every chance I get because it is so comfy yet flattering and stylish! I paired it with a pair of boyfriend jeans from Zara that I got a while ago, my black Zara booties, and the Coquette scarf which I hauled in a previous blog post. Last night was a little warmer than it has been lately - which is actually still freezing! - so I threw a black leather jacket on top.

As usual, class was boring, tehe.

Makeup Essentials

My top 5 makeup products:

1. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation - Sephora

The NARS Sheer Glow is by far my favourite foundation. I have combination skin during the summer and very dry skin during the winter, and I find that it works very nicely all year round. It gives me just the right amount of coverage and has a beautiful finish! My only problem with it at the beginning was due to it having no pump, however that was easily fixed by ordering one online.

2. MUFE Pro Finish Powder - Sephora

I travel back and forth a lot between my parents house and school, and this little guy always comes with me! Which explains the crack. Nonetheless, this is a great powder foundation! This powder can be very buildable to get the coverage you like, so I use this both to set my liquid foundation when I'm going out and by itself when I'm rushing to school.

3. Benefit Hoola Bronzer - Sephora

I love that this bronzer is matte, which makes it look really natural on my skin. The shade can also work on many different skin tones; I've recommended this to a few of my friends and they all love it.

4. Maybelline One by One Mascara - Drugstore

Mascara was the first makeup item that I experimented with and is the one thing I can never skip in the morning, so I've tried many mascaras throughout the years and this has to be the best! For me, this mascara is best for holding curls and defining lashes, so I like to layer it under other volumizing mascaras. However, I do also wear this alone on my lazy days and it still makes my lashes look great.

5. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - Drugstore

I used to think concealers with doe foot applicators were the worst cause their coverage was too light, however this one works super well! I use this under my eyes and it really wakes them up. I usually just wear this with some mascara for school and it does just enough.

I absolutely love these products and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to try something new.

Winter Haul

Finally done exams and back in Toronto for the holidays!

Now that I'm back in Toronto, of course I have to take advantage of the amazing shopping here since the stores in London are quite limited. Yesterday, I did just that and picked up a few items, and I thought I'd share a few of my favourites.

This beautiful coat from Zara was actually from mom as my birthday gift. I don't own any long coats like this so I'm excited to start wearing this. The fur collar is super soft and makes it a little more special than just a plain wool coat.

I have been eyeing this scarf from Aritzia ever since it hit stores last year, but when I saw it on Whitney Port, I decided I needed to get it! I've never been able to get my hands on it as it was always either sold out or not carried in the store I went to. The Aritzia I went to yesterday finally got new shipments in so I immediately got it. I already wore it once when I went out later that night and I love it! This scarf is perfect for looking cute while keeping warm since it is so big. The print and the size of it makes it a statement piece on its own and can really make a boring outfit into a stylish one.

Finally, if you are a fan of sweet smells like me, you are going to love this candle from Bath and Body Works! It smells exactly like sugar cookies, which are my favourite type of cookies, so I just had to get it. I can't wait to start burning this!

Alex and Sierra

Exams start in less than a week so I've been super busy studying the last few days but I couldn't miss out on my weekly dose of The X Factor. Alex and Sierra has been a favourite of mine since the beginning but this week I've really become a big fan. I'm really looking forward to hearing more of them beyond the show. If you missed tonight's episode, or just don't watch the show, these two videos are worth checking out. They are amazing!

Restless Road was also great.

I really hope both groups make it through to the semi-finals tomorrow night.

Tonight's procrastination consisted of several 8tracks playlists, deciding to start a new fitness program, and creating this blog!

I've been thinking of making a blog for a while and finally did. I don't have a clear idea as to what I want this blog to be so I'm just going to post about things happening in my life and see how it goes.

For my first post, I'll tell you about the new fitness program I decided to try. The last program I tried was Insanity, which was during the summer. Since then, I've been back in school and this time living and cooking on my own. Anyone that knows me knows that I am not a good cook. That coupled with the McDonald's 3 minutes away from my house has resulted in me eating very unhealthy and gaining some weight. With my birthday and the holidays coming up, I feel like it's time that I get back into shape. I've heard some great things about Tone It Up, so I decided to try their nutrition program. I plan to start it this week and I am actually really excited. If anyone uses Tone It Up or knows anything about it, I'd love to hear from you!
